Daniel Wendler

Back by popular demand, Daniel Wendler returns for his fourth appearance at our annual conference. Daniel, author of Improve Your Social Skills and Leverage Up your Social Skills, is currently a doctoral student in clinical psychology at George Fox University. After being diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome in high school, Daniel started teaching himself social skills the same way one might learn a foreign language. His TEDx Talk, “My Life with Aspergers” has been viewed over 375,000 times. His new TED talk, “What being Autistic Taught Me about being Human”, is now available online.

To share engaging stories that motivate kids from all walks of neurodiversity towards seeking friendship. Participants will:

  • Understand how beliefs and schemas that hold autistic people in loneliness are developed
  • Identify strategies for challenging those beliefs and helping autistic individuals break out of loneliness
  • Learn articulation skills for deepening and strengthening existing friendship connections
